About the Mississippi Appraisal Board

Purpose:

The Mississippi Real Estate Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board was enacted in 1990 to conform state law provisions concerning the regulation of real estate appraisers to the requirements instituted by the passage of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act of 1989 by the Federal Government (Title XI).

Mission:

The mission of the Board is to protect the public interest by assuring that consumers of appraisal services may choose from a group of real estate appraisers who are qualified in accordance with federal and state law and in sufficient numbers to facilitate the needs of the public.
